Ain Dubai Ultimate Guide to the World's Tallest Observation Wheel

16 October 2025

Every time I visit Dubai, I'm awestruck by the city's ever-record-breaking landmarks. Among all attractions, Ain Dubai stands out as the most anticipated. As the world's tallest observation wheel, it sits atop Bluewaters Island, offering distinctly different vistas whether viewed from land, sky, or sea.

When Ain Dubai opened in October 2021, I was eager to visit but missed the chance. Later, it temporarily closed for maintenance in 2022 and announced an indefinite closure in 2023. After two years of waiting, the observation wheel reopened in December 2024, and I finally boarded this “Sky Wheel” with my family in March 2025. In this article, I'll share my experience at Ain Dubai, including ticket information, transportation options, nearby dining, and yacht sightseeing routes to help you plan a complete and unforgettable Ferris wheel adventure.

About Ain Dubai: The World's Largest Ferris Wheel

When I first saw Ain Dubai, I was truly awestruck by its grandeur. Standing 250 meters tall—nearly twice the height of the London Eye—it towers over the entire city like a colossal steel sculpture. Constructed from over 9,000 tons of steel, equivalent to the weight of four Airbus A380s, the entire Ferris wheel left me in awe of the power of modern engineering.

Ain Dubai features 48 enclosed observation pods, each equipped with air conditioning and panoramic glass walls, accommodating up to approximately 1,750 passengers simultaneously. Riders enjoy 360-degree panoramic views, taking in Dubai's most spectacular cityscapes. I witnessed landmarks like Palm Jumeirah, the Arabian Gulf, and Dubai Marina unfold beneath my feet—every snapshot turned into a postcard-perfect scene.

Experience Highlights: Embark on a Magical Journey to Ain Dubai

I chose to board Ain Dubai at dusk, experiencing the transition from daylight to nightfall from high above. As the Ferris wheel slowly ascended, Bluewaters Island, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah gradually unfolded beneath my feet, revealing the entire city skyline in a uniquely captivating panorama.

1. Daytime Views

During the day, Ain Dubai offers breathtaking vistas. I could clearly see the azure waters of the Arabian Gulf and the distant skyscrapers. Sunlight glistened on the sea surface, creating a shimmering effect. The aerial view was perfect for photography, and I captured numerous images blending the cityscape with the bay.

2. Sunset and Night Views

My personal recommendation for boarding time is dusk. As the sun slowly sinks below the horizon, golden light bathes the Ferris wheel and the sea, creating a stunning transition from day to night. After dark, the LED lights on Ain Dubai's outer rim illuminate, intertwining with the city lights. The Burj Al Arab and JBR Beach shimmer in the distance, enhancing the ambiance of the entire aerial journey.

3. Unique Experience Programs

On the Ferris wheel, there are several special experiences available:

• Private Cabin Experience

My family and I enjoyed the intimate space inside the cabin, complete with floral arrangements and champagne—a truly special experience perfect for couples, families, or small gatherings.

• Celebration Rides

I witnessed birthday celebrations and proposals here, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere.

• Corporate Events Cabin

I observed companies setting up business events inside the cabin, making it equally suitable for corporate gatherings or brand promotions.

4. Photo Tips

• Best Shooting Angle: I found the best photos come from directly in front of the Ferris wheel's base or along the Bluewaters coastal walkway.

• Recommended Shooting Time: I recommend taking photos 30 minutes before or after sunset when the light is softest for the best results.

• Panoramic Selfies Inside the Cabin: The cabin's transparent glass makes it easy to capture panoramic backgrounds—a great way to preserve memories.

Whether by day or night, Ain Dubai showcases the city's grandeur in a uniquely captivating way. For me, it's not just a landmark—it's an unforgettable high-altitude experience.

2. Best Season to Visit

In my personal opinion, the best time to visit Ain Dubai is from October to March each year. During this period, Dubai enjoys moderate temperatures averaging between 20°C and 28°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities and evening rides to enjoy the night views.

If you choose to board at sunset like I did, you'll witness the golden glow of the Arabian Gulf as the sun dips below the horizon, while the city lights gradually come to life—a truly breathtaking sight. Ain Dubai takes on an even more distinctive character at night. Illuminated by thousands of LED lights, the giant wheel intertwines with the lights of Bluewaters Island, creating a dazzling nighttime corridor perfect for photography and capturing memories.

I recommend planning your schedule in advance. For the best photos, aim to board the ship 30 minutes before or after sunset, while also allowing ample time to enjoy the night views.

How to Get to Ain Dubai

Ain Dubai is located on the ultra-modern Bluewaters Island, adjacent to the renowned Dubai Marina, making it extremely accessible. Whether you choose to drive, take the metro, bus, or walk, you can easily reach the destination. My family and I opted for a water taxi, and the entire experience was truly special—viewing the Ferris wheel's exterior from the sea was exceptionally breathtaking.

1. Drive There Yourself

If you choose to drive yourself, you can follow the route I've mapped out below:

• From Downtown Dubai → Follow Sheikh Zayed Road (E11) → Take Exit 32 / Jumeirah Beach Residence → Follow signs to Bluewaters Island.

The entire journey takes approximately 25–30 minutes by car (about 20 kilometers), though it may take longer during peak hours. Traffic is heavy on holidays and weekends, and parking spaces may be limited, so it's advisable to leave early.

2. Subway + Walking

I find the most convenient public transportation option to be the Dubai Metro Red Line.

• Take the Dubai Metro Red Line and alight at DMCC Station;

• Exit via Exit 1;

• Walk approximately 15 minutes along The Walk at JBR footbridge to reach Bluewaters Island.

Along the way, you can also enjoy the harbor scenery. I find walking this route in the evening particularly pleasant.

3. Public Bus

If you're taking public buses, you can choose from the following routes:

• F57: Departing from Jebel Ali Metro Station → Via National Paints MS → Terminating at Bluewaters Island

• Alight at Jumeira, Royal Meridian, or Shatha Tower → Approximately 12–20 minutes' walk to Ain Dubai

Please note that the F57 bus operates daily from 6:00 AM to midnight, with extended service until 1:00 AM on Fridays.

If you are departing from Dubai International Airport (DXB), I recommend first taking a bus to the Gold Souq Bus Station, then transferring to a bus heading to Jumeirah Beach Residence 2, Seaside. Finally, walk approximately 1.8 kilometers (about 20 minutes) to reach Ain Dubai.

4. Taxi / Ride-Hailing Service

Taxis in Dubai are widely available alongside ride-hailing services such as Uber and Careem.

• Approximately 30–35 minutes from Dubai International Airport.

• Approximately 25 minutes from Dubai Mall.

Advantages: Comfortable direct access, eliminating the hassle of walking and transfers.

5. Water Taxi

My family and I chose the water taxi, departing from Dubai Marina. Along the way, we enjoyed spectacular views of Ain Dubai from the sea, and it was just a 10-minute walk to the observation wheel. The entire journey was both time-efficient and enjoyable, making our trip feel like an adventure from the very start.

The luxury yacht slowed down near Ain Dubai, allowing passengers to take photos. A BBQ buffet was served onboard, featuring grilled shrimp, steak, and salads. Dining while taking in the nighttime sea views felt incredibly relaxing.

3. Tips

• We recommend booking evening cruises in advance, especially on weekends when availability is limited.

• Bring a light jacket as the sea breeze can be slightly chilly at night.

• The best photo opportunity is when the Dubai Marina Yacht approaches the bend near Bluewaters Island—the lights of Ain Dubai reflecting on the water create a particularly stunning scene.

This Dubai yacht cruise left me feeling utterly satisfied. Gazing up at Ain Dubai from the sea, the moment the Ferris wheel sparkled against the night sky truly made me lose track of time.
